Budget Surplus

Last weeks federal budget produced a surplus of over $20 billion. Next year the surplus is expected to be similar giving Labor over $40 billion to spend.

Sunday's finance editor Ross Greenwood looks at how the government will use that surplus and what it may mean for the Australian economy.

Far from being locked away most of the money will be available to the government to spend on infrastructure, health and education before the next election.
