Tori Amos and friends

Eccentric musician Tori Amos has just visited Australia, with a series of concerts for her new album, American Doll Posse. Its unashamedly political, with songs like 'Yo George!' an blunt attack on the current American administration.

This minister's daughter — from a small town in North Carolina — sure doesn't 'act the part' of someone with a conservative background. Her new album — she says — was created with the help of five strong female characters, all based on Greek mythology. She says she steps into a different character before each stage performance.

"The music, the songs that come to me, they are alive, they are real, the girls exist, I am really the scribe, it is truly a privilege to work with them, and I take their dictation."
